Egusquiza Wins in San Antonio

Dustin Egusquiza made his presence known at the prestigious San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo last weekend, winning both the Wild Card Round and Finals with new partner Levi Lord. The pair stopped the clock in the final round with a 4.1 to win big.

“We had to go through the wild card, and luckily we made a good run there,” Egusquiza said.

The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo attracts more than two million visitors each year and is widely considered one of the nation’s top PRCA events. For 14 consecutive years - the last one in 2018 - it garnered PRCA Large Indoor Rodeo of the Year.

Egusquiza won San Antonio back in 2020 with Travis Graves.

“San Antonio is one of my favorite rodeos of the year,” he said. “It’s pretty cool to be a two-time champion now. To do it with one of my best friends makes it even cooler.”

Egusquiza passed the $1 million mark in career prize money at the 2022 NFR. He finished in Vegas in 6th place and 7th in world standings for the year. Dustin joined the PRCA in 2016 , when he was named Resistol Rookie of the Year. Since then, he has qualified for five Wrangler National Finals Rodeos.

Earlier this month, Team Roping Journal tagged Egusquiza and Lord as “one of the most talked about teams in 2023.”

“The recognition is nice, and it was good that we had a huge week last week,” Egusquiza said. “I think things are starting to click - it’s a real good time of the year to be roping good.”

Dustin is a member of the Lone Star Ropes Pro Team. In addition to The Helix head rope, he is a big fan of our newest boots, the Lone Star Ropes Armour Flex Protective Boots.
