Cowboy Christmas

Cowboy Christmas

Dustin Egusquiza racked up several big wins during Cowboy Christmas, the frenzied week around July 4, to jump to No. 2 in the world in the PRCA world standings. Cowboy Christmas is the time of year when the PRCA standings see their biggest shakeup thanks to the lucrative prize money that can be won.

Egusquiza pulled in $25,263 to close in on current world leader Rhen Richards. With heeling partner Levi Lord, the five-time NFR qualifier had several lucrative outings in early July including wins at the Livingston Round Rodeo in Montana, Home of Champions Rodeo in Red Lodge, Montana, and the Basin City Freedom Rodeo in Washington.

“I have always loved the Fourth of July run,” says Egusquiza. “I got skunked my second year rodeoing and won zero dollars. But ever since then, Cowboy Christmas has treated me very well. I am thankful that we had another great fourth this year!”

Other Lone Star Ropes Pro Teamers who made a splash these over Cowboy Christmas are Tanner Tomlinson and partner Patrick Smith. The two each raked in $24,422, with their biggest haul ($7,332) coming at the Cody Stampede where they took first. Tomlinson is now 6th in the header world standings, and Smith is fifth in heeling.
