Together Again

Coleman Proctor and his partner Logan Medlin took the win again at the Fallon County Fair & Rodeo in Baker, Montana last week, but it was Coleman's palomino Admiral that stole the show.

The horse has been out of competition since last summer when he went out with an injury to his right leg in the second run of the Daddy of ‘Em All in Cheyenne. Extensive rehabilitation followed. Thanks to Signature Equine Hospital in Stephenville, Texas, Admiral rose to the occasion in Montana.

“If you watched him limp out of the Cheyenne arena you know what a feat it was to get him back,” Coleman said. “Many thought it would be impossible - myself included.”

He hopes to ride Admiral even more during this fourth-quarter stretch to the NFR.

“I have never smiled so much for a 4.6-second run,” Proctor said. “Honestly when we went, I thought, ‘That will win third or fourth.’ I loaded him up in the corner and he scored amazing.”

The finish earned Coleman $5,589 and the All-Around Cowboy title (team roping and steer roping). It was the second year in a row that he and Medlin won team roping in Fallon County.

“It was such a joy to have him back,” he said. “I honestly got emotional when I got him back to the trailer. Just a lot of hard work from a lot of people getting that horse back in the game.”
